Acute / Chronic Pain
Low Back and Sciatica
There are many causes of lower back pain and sciatica. One of the most common cause is pregnancy or
muscle spasms. This pain can also come from lumbar spinal stenosis, which means the spinal canal is
narrowing in the lower back.
Degenerative disk disease can also cause sciatica or acute back pain. Another cause of this pain is
spondylolisthesis, which is caused by one vertebra moving forward and over another vertebra.
Cancer Pain
Cancer pain is caused by cancer itself or the treatment. If pain is experienced from cancer, it is usually
because a tumor is pushing on an organ, bones, or nerves.
Pain from treatment can include surgeries, phantom pains, and side effects of radiation or
chemotherapy.
Headaches and Migraines
Pain from headaches and migraines can occur often and may be caused by many different factors such
as a sinus infection, tension, or even because of excessive heat. The pain can come on slowly or all at
once and be severe or a less-severe constant pain caused by tightness in muscles.
Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia pain is pain that makes you feel aches all over your body. it is also decribed as having many
different kinds of pains in different areas of the body. Some symptoms of fibromyalgia pain are joint
pain, pain in the hips, knees, feet, or other overly tender parts of the body. One can also develop
fatigue, sleep disorders, and depression because of the pain.
Shoulder and Elbow Pain
There is a wide range of causes for shoulder and elbow pain that is severe. Medical conditions, such as
tendonitis and bursitis, can cause severe pain. There may also be a torn rotator cuff or a tendon rupture
that’s gone untreated. Joint degeneration and sprains or broken bones may also cause severe pain in
the shoulders and elbows
Carpel Tunnel
The median nerve, which is a major nerve that runs to the hand, is squeezed, or compressed, causing
pain, tingling sensations, or numbness.
Neck pain

positions or pillows, meningitis, shingles, or other medical conditions
Plantar Fasciitis
Pain from plantar fasciitis is in the foot or heel. The most common time one feels severe pain with
plantar fasciitis is in the morning. Causes of this type of pain are standing for work all day, running
regularly on hard surfaces, or working in the construction field. Other causes may be due to improper
shoe fit or wearing flip flops.
Knee and Hip
Knee and hip pain can work in conjunction with each other. Many times, a knee hurts because of a hip
problem. This is called radiated pain. If there is severe pain in the knee or hip, it is usually caused by
overdoing it while exercising, an infection, or rheumatoid arthritis.
Acute and Chronic Injuries
Acute pain is of sudden onset and is usually a result of a recent injury. Chronic pain is pain from an
